A mere three days until librarians of all shapes, sizes, ages, and cardigan thicknesses descend upon the Windy City. That means no more beating around the schedule bush. Time to commit to a few things. Thus far, here’s what I’ve got going:

Programs and Sessions

Hoping to leave with some knowledge that I can take back to my job, I’m liking the looks of the following sessions for school library purposes:

Closing the Gap: Making Information Literacy Seamless Across K-16

Copyright for Librarians K-12

Nonfiction Book Blast: Booktalks for Reluctant Readers

For blogging reasons, this one is on my list:

Booklist Online: Books and Blogs: Made for Each Other?

Caldecott Artwork

This will be cool. The Art Institute of Chicago is hosting an exhibit called “Picture Perfect: Art from Caldecott Award Books, 2006-2009“. Every time I’ve gone to see children’s book artwork in person, it’s been well worth it. I’m expecting this to be the same.

Exhibits

Lovingly called “The Stacks” I hear that visiting this massive collection of publishers, vendors, and various library/book related entities is not to be missed. Plenty of authors to be found here as well. Find more info here.

Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me!

I may have mentioned that I’m pretty excited about attending a live taping of this weekly NPR news quiz.

Blogging.

While I’ll be posting during the conference, I’ll also do some writin’s for the ALSC blog. You best believe I’ll be hitting up the oh-so-appropriately titled “Bloggers Room” at McCormick Place.

Anything I’m leaving out?
