The film has been a long time in coming, but it appears that the Spike Jonze directed film adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are will actually be making it to your local movie house. Really. Alright, I’m gonna believe it when it’s entering my eyeballs too, but we’ve got some encouraging news here. Take a look at the first poster for the film:
Other than the sorta awkward Photoshop job going on, it’s pretty nice, right? Is it just me or does it seem that the YA cover trend of cropping had an influence here?

I can’t decide if I think this is going to be really awesome or really awful.
Good point on the cropping trend. I’m pretty sick of it, especially when it seems to fetishize oddly small parts of girls’ faces or bodies. Thus my love-hate relationship with many a Sarah Dessen cover.

I’m keeping decently high hopes – reading Jonze’s thoughts on the project I think it has a good chance. We’ll see this Fall I guess.
Yes, the cropping maneuver may soon be attaining played out status. As you can attest, it’s still going strong in 09 – a possible reason to make a premature look ahead at 2010?
