As has become the tradition, Jerry Pinkney and Rebecca Stead (the 2010 Caldecott and Newbery winners, respectively) appeared on the Today Show this morning. While I preferred last year’s Al Roker interview, Ann Curry and Natalie Morales conduct a capable, if brief, Q & A (is it just me, or are the length of “segments” on the Today Show slowly approaching negative numbers?) . Cool to see how thrilled these two are. Click the image below to watch.

Yeah, I wasn’t all that impressed with the interview and really wished Al Roker would have done it. That being said, it was still great to see both Pinkney and Stead and their excitement. Nice to see the recognition.

Congrats to the winners, but MAN that was brief. And mispronouncing Rebecca Stead’s name? Not the coolest. Oh, well.

I was shocked how short the segment was too. I’m glad they got the exposure, but the story was buried late in the show and way too short.

Thanks for the link; I missed the live broadcast, and I did want to see it.

Yeah, any publicity is good publicity, but those were two of the most disingenuous interviewers I’ve seen. Blech.
